SOUND MIXING & MASTERING

As the final film deadline approaches you are sure to be thinking about the Sound Mix for your film. At this stage, I recommend the following procedure:

(1) Prepare your sound track, including all music, sound effects and voice elements, in either Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition or ProTools.

(2) Adjust clip levels to keep the Master Meter level at -15 dB. This is your "Rough Mix."

(3) Book time at the Animation Studio to review your rough mix.  A one-hour booking will be enough time if you prepared (1) above.

To book the time, email Rick Andersen (rick.andersen@sheridancollege.ca)
 or Mario Positano  (mario.positano@sheridancollege.ca.)

(4) At your scheduled time, bring a copy of your session or project, exported to include all required audio & video media files, to the Animation Studio and fine-tune your mix with master engineer Rick Andersen.  At the end of your hour Rick will output a professional broadcast-quality mix file in WAV format for you to use as your Soundtrack Master.
